LogisticsLOGISTICS MADE EASY

Szczecin – the Gateway to Europe

Szczecin is aptly referred to as the gateway to Western and Northern Europe. This reputation is validated by numerous companies and institutions in the logistics sector that have established their headquarters and main warehouses in the city. They leverage Szczecin's strategic location at the crossroads of various transportation modes.

Another key advantage of the region comprises cargo handling capabilities at the Szczecin-Goleniów Airport. Some of the largest companies that have set up their operations include:

  • Freja (new contract logistics center)
  • Amazon (e-commerce center)
  • Zalando (distribution center).

 Warehousing:

The warehouse market is thriving in Szczecin, as demonstrated by the impressive gross demand for modern warehouse space in the first quarter of 2022, which totaled 44,6 thousand square meters. The city's robust infrastructure, prime location, and skilled workforce underscore its unique advantages in the distribution of goods, materials, and products, as well as in the field of contract logistics.

In the first quarter of 2022, the total amount of modern warehouse space in Szczecin reached 888,000 square meters. This positions our city as a market comparable to the Tri-City area and larger than Krakow.

The vacancy rate, meanwhile, was 1,4%, making us a national leader.

Maritime economy

Szczecin is currently one of the largest and most rapidly developing maritime centers in our part of Europe. An unquestionable advantage of the city is the presence of the Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście, one of the largest port complexes in the Baltic Sea region. This port serves as the most important transit hub for the Czech Republic, Slovakia, eastern Germany, and western and southwestern Poland. The ongoing investment in deepening the Świnoujście-Szczecin waterway to a technical depth of 12.5 meters promises significant growth for the industry and the entire region.

The shipbuilding industry has been and continues to be a vital sector for Szczecin. Revitalized areas in the north of the city and on Ostrów Brdowski and Gryfia Island offer attractive investment land for development by modern companies. The 45-hectare site of the former Szczecin Nowa Shipyard is now home to the Szczecin Industrial Park, providing valuable assets for businesses, particularly in the offshore and steel industries.

The West Pomeranian Maritime Cluster operates effectively in Szczecin, bringing together and promoting enterprises, organizations, and institutions in the maritime sector. These clusters serve as an expert base and an important partner for decision-makers at all levels, influencing the creation of maritime policy for the region, the state, and the European community.
